Can I have a different flavour of cake in each layer of my wedding cake and does it effect the price?
Yes, you can have a different flavour of cake in each layer, each cake is priced upon one flavour of cake, additional flavours are an extra £25 per flavour.

Is it possible to get a wedding cake flavour in a novelty shaped cake?
We would recommend that you select a flavour from the sponge flavours rather than a wedding cake flavour for a shaped novelty cake as the sponge cake lends itself better to being carved into shapes and holds well, compared to a cake with fruit in it that tends not to be easily shaped.

Do we have to have a fruit cake in our wedding cake?
The choice is totally yours, you may want to consider your guests and who you have invited to your big day, older generations may expect a slice of fruit cake, where as the younger generation may not, but ultimately the choice is yours!

How much notice do I need to give for a wedding cake?
We would recommend booking a consultation with Ben as soon as you set a date, the more organised you are the better, as we only take on 2 weddings in the one day, it is best to book early to avoid disappointment.

How much notice do I need to give when booking a novelty celebration cake?
During the summer when we are very busy with wedding cakes we would recommend at least 2-3 weeks notice for shaped novelty cakes, during the winter we would recommend that a week or 10 days notice should be sufficient. If you drop us a email or give us a call we will be able to check availability on a cake for a certain date.

Do you deliver cakes?
Yes we do deliver, there is however a delivery charge, please specify your delivery location upon ordering and we will calculate this for you. Wedding cakes have free delivery within a 10 mile radius of Ballymoney where we are based and outside of this £0.45 per mile charge to the venue and back again to Contemporary Cakes to cover fuel.

Prices for shaped novelty cakes start from £55 depending upon size, design and detail.

If I have a theme for a cake for a birthday party can you design a cake around that idea?
Yes, we enjoy a challenge, creating new styles and shapes of cakes, so please feel free to fill out a contact form and send us your themes and we will provide ideas for your theme.

Do you have stands available for hire for cupcakes wedding cakes or christening cakes?
Yes, we have clear stackable square or round stands for cupcakes and individual cakes that can be hired, A deposit of £40 (refundable upon safe return of the complete stand) + £30 rental fee*, we also have base stands for hire for wedding cakes should you require one these please advised this at your tasting consultation, Base stand deposit of £20 (refundable upon safe return of the stand) + £30 rental fee*.
* Deposits will be refunded via bank transfer upon safe return, please provide the relevant bank details upon return of the stand.
- Can you provide additional cutting slabs of cake?
Yes, at Contemporary Cakes we have various cutting slab cakes available in different sizes that can be purchased and kept in the kitchen and these will be cut up and served out with your wedding cake to increase the amount of cake required.
